Ribbon Cutting – Fremont Elkhorn Valley Rail-to-Trail (Phase 1)

HOOPER, NE — June 2, 2026 — Community members, local leaders, and outdoor enthusiasts are invited to celebrate the ribbon cutting of the first completed segment of the Fremont Elkhorn Valley Rail-to-Trail project on June 12 at 9:00 a.m. at the former Hooper Rail Depot.

This milestone marks the completion of approximately 3 miles of trail from the Hooper Rail Depot to Highway 77, transforming the historic railway corridor into a scenic multi-use path connecting communities and creating new opportunities for recreation and tourism.

"We are incredibly excited to celebrate the completion of this first phase," said Stan Darling, President of the FEVR Rail-to-Trail Foundation. "This project represents years of planning, strong partnerships, and community support. We look forward to welcoming biking and outdoor enthusiasts to Dodge County and invite everyone to be a Link in the Chain as we begin fundraising for Phases 3 and 4 to fully connect our communities."

The completion of Phase 1 would not have been possible without the generous support of the Fremont Area Community Foundation and the Dodge County Convention and Visitors Bureau. Their commitment to investing in projects that enhance quality of life, recreation, and tourism across the region played a critical role in turning this vision into reality. The FEVR Rail-to-Trail Foundation also extends sincere gratitude to the many private donors and local businesses whose support reflects a strong and unified commitment to building something meaningful for Dodge County and future generations.

• Expansion of Nebraska’s education savings plan (NEST 529) to include skills-based training and credential programs (LB 748);
• Nebraska's Unclaimed Property Division, which returned nearly $20 million last year;
• The Enable Savings Plan, which serves individuals with disabilities; and
• StateSpending.Nebraska.gov, which tracks state government spending and revenue sources.
