Midland University, a private, Christian, liberal arts university in Fremont, Nebraska (just outside of metro Omaha) is seeking an Admissions Counselor in the Center for Graduate and Professional Studies to work with prospective graduate and non-traditional students in the admissions process at Midland University. This position will join a fast-growing team, with opportunities for growth in multiple avenues depending on qualifications.

Job Duties: The candidate will be responsible for outreach to prospective students in various graduate and non-traditional programs, attend recruiting fairs and enrollment events, and will assist students throughout the admissions and enrollment process, helping expand Midland University programs in the Omaha area.

Specifically, they will:

  1. Build relationships and maintain contact with graduate and non-traditional students through proactive outreach from initial stages of inquiry through enrollment
  2. Recruit students through networking, relationship building, and corporate connections at external fairs and events
  3. Manage incoming applications, including interviews and initial application review
  4. Organize and attend on-campus and off-campus admissions events

Need to have:

  • A bachelor's degree
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • An ability to make frequent contacts with prospective and current students in-person, over the phone, and online in a professional tone
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • A thorough understanding of the value of continuing education

Should demonstrate:

  • A high level of energy and enthusiasm for his or her work
  • An ability to build professional relationships
  • An understanding of the recruiting process and a willingness to staff recruiting events and class meetings that necessarily take place outside of normal business hours
  • An ability to multi-task while meeting goal-oriented deadlines

Nice to have:

  • Experience working in professional relationship development or recruitment
  • Existing working relationships with major Omaha employers
