Fremont is a special community to Lutheran Family Services of Nebraska (LFS). 125 years ago, Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont established an orphanage which began LFS human care for children and families! 2017 also marks another anniversary. Ten years ago, LFS opened the “Fremont Area Building Families Boutique” providing early intervention/prevention programs to families with children from pregnancy through age five. Now known as the Rupert Dunklau Center for Healthy Families®, more than 3,500 families have participated in program activities. Investing in our children is an investment in the future. Prevention and early intervention—such as the services provided at the Rupert Dunklau Center—has the greatest payoff for children, families and our society. The Center strengthens highly-stressed families through early childhood mental health therapies, parenting classes and support groups with an incentive program. Families are offered these critical services free of charge.
