A Nebraska Brass Christmas
Celebrate the holiday season with music at "A Nebraska Brass Christmas," the second concert series in the 2011-2012 Nebraska Brass season. At its most popular event of the year, the Nebraska Brass will perform traditional holiday favorites and lively arrangements sure to warm the hearts of audiences on even the coldest Nebraska nights. The Nebraska Brass, founded in 1987, includes members Dean Haist, trumpet; Brad Obbink, trumpet; Richard Ricker, horn; Nancy Vogt, trombone; and Ken Kielniarz, tuba. In addition to performing five sets of concerts each season, the Nebraska Brass provides educational outreach to elementary school students through its Brass Goes to School program.
Music selections for these festive concerts will include Joy to the World, a popular Christmas carol arranged by Keith Snell; settings of The Light Descending, Good King Wenceslas, and Sing We Noel by Gwyneth Walker; "St. Mark" Sonata by Tomaso Albinoni arranged by David Hickman; Wexford Carol; a traditional Irish carol arranged by Tim Fisher; O Come All Ye Faithful by Chuck Marohnic arranged by Sam Pilafian; Deck the Halls, a traditional Welsh carol arranged by Robert Elkjer; The Christmas Song by Mel Torme arranged by Richard Ricker; We Three Kings by John Hopkins arranged by Gary Shlecta; Christmas Time Is Here by Vince Guaraldi arranged by Jay Pralle; and We Wish You a Merry Christmas, a traditional carol arranged by John Rutter.
