Midland University Community Event Honoring Veteran's Day
Midland University will host an event this Friday, Nov. 11, honoring veterans and military families as part of a community-wide recognition taking place in Fremont onVeterans’ Day.
The ceremony will include the dedication of a U.S. flag that was flown over theU.S. Capitol on the 10th anniversary of 9/11 this year. The flag will be presented to Midland on behalf of the Disabled American Veterans Post #18. Veterans and community members are invited to attend the event, which begins at 11 a.m. on Friday.
Among the participants are:
• Gov. Dave Heineman
• State Sen. Charlie Janssen
• Rick Spalding, Chair, Midland University Board of Trustees
• Al Martinez, Nebraska Chapter of the Disabled American Veterans
The event will be held in front of the Midland Event Center, located just east of 10th and Clarkson Sts. in Fremont. Parking is available in the Event Centerparking lot.
In addition, Midland invites veterans and all military families to attend the final home football game of the season on Saturday, Nov. 12 at 1 p.m. as the Midland Warriors take on Dakota Wesleyan at Memorial Field. Admission is free for veterans, military personnel and their families.
