This class is designed to prepare individuals and businesses who sell alcohol to do so safely and responsibly. Topics reviewed include:
*Responsibilities of licensees and their employees as they pertain to selling alcohol along with penalties and consequences associated with irresponsible alcohol sale or service.
*Delineation of what constitutes reasonable efforts to ensure responsible alcohol sales, including 3rd party sales.
*Proper ID checking techniques including but not limited to acceptable forms of ID's what to check on an ID, and underage warning signs.
*Documentary proof of age book and its correct use.
*How alcohol affects people including but not limited to physiological effects of alcohol, visible signs of intoxication, factors influencing rate of intoxication, blood alcohol content, and tolerance.
*Types and quantities of alcohol including but not limited to measured drinks, alcohol purity/ concentration, and drink equivalencies.
*Guidelines for ensuring responsible alcohol sales including but not limited to, safe customer service, prevention of confrontation and avoiding the escalation of a situation.
Attendees will complete an exam of the information at the end. Those with a 70% or higher will obtain a certificate of certified training.
The Manager training will take place immediately following the general class (8-8:30 p.m.) and will cover the following topics:
*Methods for conducting a risk assessment of their establishment.
*Developing policies and practices for responsible beverage service.
*Procedures specifying when to contact law enforcement.
*Recommendations for on-going staff training.
