Welstead Camp No. 3 (SUVCW) Memorial Day Ceremony
The Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War (SUVCW) is dedicated to preserving the history and legacy of veteran heroes who fought and worked to save the Union in the American Civil War. Memorial Day, originally called Decoration Day, is a day of remembrance for those who have died in our nations service. Traditional observance of Memorial day has diminished over the years and many Americans have forgotten the meaning and traditions of the day. At many cemeteries, the graves of the fallen are increasingly ignored or neglected. Please join Welstead Camp No. 3, SUVCW, in a traditional ceremony celebrating the lives and sacrifices of the veterans of the Civil War and all armed conflicts. Flags will be placed on graves shortly before the ceremony. The ceremony will commence at the GAR monument, east entrance of the cemetery.
