Finance Assistant/Accounts Payable Specialist

As a Finance Assistant-Accounts Payable Specialist, you will play a crucial role on the Finance and Administrative Team in maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting principles and regulations.

Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Location: 1005 East 23rd Street. Fremont, NE 68025

Essential Job Duties:

  • Daily and timely vendor invoice processing and document imaging via the Bank’s accounts payable system including:
  • Invoice Processing – receives and verifies invoices, ensures accuracy and that all contracts/agreements are on file and up to date.
  • Payment Processing – prepares and processes payments to vendors.
  • Reporting – generates reports for AP management.
  • Obtains proper IRS Form W-9 Requests for Taxpayer Identification Numbers and Form 1099-MISC Miscellaneous Income tax reporting.
  • Timely reconciliation of correspondent bank and miscellaneous general ledger accounts inclusive of research and resolution of outstanding items.
  • Monitors bank owned property and prepares fixed asset reports.
  • Timely reconciliation, remittance and filing of various Federal and State taxes.
  • Assists other Bank department personnel in the research and resolution of reconcilement differences.
  • Assists Deposit Operations with reviewing/approval of international wires.
  • Supports audits by providing documentation and explanations for financial transactions and processes.
  • Collaborates with internal teams to ensure compliance with financial policies, procedures, and banking regulations.
  • Completes all required training.
  • Actively communicates matters of potential audit or compliance risk.
  • Participates in special projects and initiatives as assigned by management, contributing accounting expertise and insights.
  • Other activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee may be assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues across departments.
  • Proficiency in using accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Solid understanding of financial principles and practices, including budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities to identify issues, analyze root causes, and propose solutions.
  • High level of integrity and discretion when handling confidential financial information.
  • Adaptability and willingness to learn new skills and technologies as needed in a dynamic work environment.
  • Self-starter with the initiative to take on new challenges and responsibilities.

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour
