Pediatric Physical Therapist

In a career as a Pediatric Physical Therapist, you join us in providing life-changing care to pediatric patients with both general and neurological therapy needs. In this role, you will conduct evaluation of known or suspected health conditions, develop treatment plans and goals, provide appropriate therapeutic interventions, and education to children and families. Complete timely documentation, coordinates care with other members of the health care team within and outside of the organization

Schedule: Full-Time, Monday-Friday, to include daytime and early evening shifts.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

  • Works within a multidisciplinary team either in a pediatric clinic, or as part of an assigned research team to provide physical therapy interventions meant to optimize functional mobility and physical activity for children/adolescents.

  • If assigned to research, this individual will utilize field best practices to help conduct and document innovative interventions in the field of physical therapy.

  • Educates and brings awareness to children and families about the importance of living a healthy lifestyle, including the role physical activity plays in promoting a healthy lifestyle.

  • Creates a treatment plan that is developmentally, physically, and age appropriate for the patient that also includes caregiver involvement.

  • Analyzes information obtained from medical records, test results, objective findings, and patient subjective reports to assist in formulating a treatment plan.

  • Screens for physical limitations or barriers that could decrease participation in physical activity or could cause injury including but not limited to poor balance, deformities, weakness, and improper form.

  • Provides physical therapy in accordance with the medical team and scope of practice to patients with musculoskeletal injuries or risk for injury due to impaired balance, mobility, ROM, posture, or strength.

  • Communicates patient treatment interventions, plan of care, and outcomes with the medical team and referring provider.

  • As assigned, may coordinate, and oversee age-appropriate group exercise classes for patients and their families.

  • As assigned, may partner with multi-disciplinary research teams that tie physical therapy practice to neuroscience research.

  • Participates in educational events, in-services, presentations, student observation experiences, and research opportunities within the clinic.

  • Pursues ongoing education related to the field of pediatric physical therapy and exercise promotion in children and families.

  • Provides patient care and education according to the patient population served.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduation from a physical therapy education program required.

  • A current or eligible for license in the State of Nebraska in physical therapy required.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
